Washington Justice CHERRY BLOSSOM COLLECTIONS
APPAREL GRAPHICS - ASSORTMENT PLANNING
Every spring, Washington, DC transforms into a breathtaking display of cherry blossoms, a tradition that dates back to 1912 when Japan gifted over 3,000 cherry trees to the city as a symbol of friendship. The annual Cherry Blossom Festival has since become a defining moment for DC, celebrating renewal, culture, and community.
Inspired by this rich history, I wanted to bring a fresh perspective to our apparel lineup, crafting a collection that seamlessly ties the Washington Justice brand to the city it represents. As the lead apparel designer, I introduced the Cherry Blossom Collection, our first-ever themed, limited-time drop. This collection not only stepped outside our traditional color palette but also established a new annual tradition for our fans, giving them something to look forward to each season.
With other professional teams in DC embracing cherry blossom-inspired designs, we saw an opportunity to create something unique for our community. Combining rich reds with soft pinks and deep greys, each release featured a commemorative jersey, sometimes in multiple colorways, along with an array of apparel options designed to refresh fan wardrobes while celebrating both the team and the city.
What started as an experiment quickly became a fan favorite, solidifying its place as a Justice tradition. Below are highlights from three separate Cherry Blossom apparel drops, each reflecting the evolution of this beloved collection.
